Evgeny Veselov told about Pozhneftehim solutions at a meeting of the Russian Shipbuilders’ Scientific and Technical Society

On December 6, 2018, Russian Shipbuilders’ Scientific and Technical Society (STS) named after Academician A.N. Krylov in St. Petersburg organized a meeting of the STS section "Ecology and safety in shipbuilding". Evgeny Veselov, the Pozhneftehim CEO, took part in the task meeting of the public organization.

Evgeny Veselov’s report concerned the fire safety of offshore platforms and ships. According to statistics, fires are the greatest danger to offshore oil infrastructure. In the event of platform destruction, they cause environmental disasters, and their consequences can be eliminated with great difficulty.

In the B. A. Nikitin and R. M. Tagiyev’s work “Ensuring the safety of offshore fields facilities”, there is a summary of the types of accidents on offshore platforms.

The effective foam fire extinguishing and water-cooling systems at offshore drilling rigs (ODR) and offshore platforms (mobile units) are extremely important for the smooth operation of offshore oil and gas infrastructure.

Representatives of design bureaus, the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS), Gazpromneft, Giprospetsgaz, Sovkomflot customers, as well as specialists from equipment manufacturing companies, regularly participate in meetings of the Shipbuilders' STS. At the last meeting, environmental issues were also discussed: the impact of shipping and operation of offshore facilities on the marine environment, ensuring fire safety during offshore operations and cargo operations on ships and offshore facilities.
