Pozhneftehim Advanced training Courses – the results of full-time studies 2019

The seventh annual Pozhneftehim Advanced training course “Modern technologies of foam firefighting at the facilities of oil, petrochemical and gas industry” was held in May-June 2019. Pozhneftehim continued the tradition with meaningful workshops supplemented by demonstrations and fire tests at the training ground, and the training itself - with trips and team building.

Donskoy, the city in Tula region, where Pozhneftehim-Detal fire extinguishing equipment production is located, has hosted more than 30 specialists in the design of foam and water fire extinguishing systems. They have come from state and commercial organizations, such as the Central Design Bureau MT Rubin, Central Design Bureau Lazurit, KHM-PROJECT (“KOKSOCHIMMONTAZH-PROJECT”), “Yugraneftegazproekt”, “TomskNIPIneft”, “INKO-TEK”, “IK SIBINTEC”, NIIC PB “20 CPI”, “31 GPISS”, Design Institute “Salavatgazoneftekhimproekt”, “Stalt LTD”, “New security technologies” and other.

Sergey Panov, Pozhneftehim Technical Director, summing up the preliminary results of the course, said: “The annual training of specialists in the field of design implies the relevance of topics and corresponding qualification of lecturers. However, the main thing is that people should not only learn the intricacies of the individual systems design, but also establish contact with each other, make friends, continue communication after training. This year we could manage to achieve this. Demand for practitioners is growing. The course participants were especially interested in the contents of the demonstration part: they carefully looked at the work of foam generators, were interested in the properties of foam concentrates and their use for extinguishing different types of highly inflammable and combustible liquids”.

In 2019, the practical training program was expanded. For the first time, the use of fire filters, fire monitors with water curtains, high-expansion foam generators to fill a tank 15 meters high were demonstrated at a special hydraulic test stand.

Advanced training course included mandatory and additional expert modules. Specialists from Pozhneftehim partner companies conducted workshops on fire risk assessment at production sites, on automation of fire alarm and fire extinguishing systems, and on management of automatic fire extinguishing installations at oil refining facilities. Upon training, students took the test on cards and received certificates of advanced training. The documents confirm the level of qualification sufficient for designing fire extinguishing systems and controling design work in the field of fire protection in petrochemical industry. Participants noted that professional development certificates would be required to work with new clients and conduct new projects.
