General

Purpose and scope

The block-containers Vityaz for fire suppression (BK-PT) are framed transportable buildings (structures) or standard sea container structures, depending on the required fire resistance degree, height, placement of technological equipment and other factors.

The Vityaz block-containers for fire suppression are made of one or more blocks, taking into account standard transport dimensions.

Depending on the functional purpose, the Vityaz BK-PT are divided into:

  • points of storage and preparation of a foam concentrate solution;
  • firefighting pump stations;
  • pressure boosting points;
  • control points for fire extinguishing with the fire-technical arrangements and/or stockpiles of fire extinguishing substances;
  • mechanized warehouses of foam concentrates;
  • multi-purpose buildings with various options of technological equipment, etc.

Distinctive advantages

  • Vityaz block-containers for fire suppression with I, II, III or IV degree of fire resistance are manufactured according to the requirements of normative documentation with available of documents from the test fire laboratory IPL SEC FPS EMERCOM of Russia or certificates of conformity;
  • choice of dosing system type (bladder tanks, turbine inline proportioners, balanced pressure proportioners of foam inductors) taking into account the technical features of foam fire extinguishing installations, economic feasibility, responsibility level for the protected object, etc.;
  • development of technological scheme and equipment layout is carried out by the specialists of the design department of the Pozhneftehim Group with the application of a questionnaire (upon request);
  • the possibility to perform the full range of works for installation, commissioning and testing at the facility by the Pozhneftehim Group production unit specialists.

The buildings and structures located in the territory of oil and oil products storages, oil refineries and petrochemical enterprises are subject to the requirements for the degree of fire resistance and the structural fire hazard classes indicated below. There are also requirements as to the distances between buildings and structures in the territory of production facilities, depending on the degree of fire resistance, structural fire hazard classes and the category of explosive and fire hazard in accordance with table 4 (Reference information) of SP 4.13130.2013 “Limiting the spread of fire at the protected facilities. The degree of fire resistance and the structural fire hazard class should be ensured through structural solutions, the use of appropriate building materials, and the use of fire protection equipment in accordance with the requirement of Article 58 of Federal Law No. 123 “Technical Regulations on Fire Safety Requirements”. The required fire resistance limits of building structures, selected depending on the degree of fire resistance of buildings and structures, are given in Table 21 of the Annex to Federal Law No. 123. The fire resistance limits of buildings and structures are given below. The indicated fire resistance limits of buildings and structures (hereinafter referred to as buildings) correspond to the fire resistance limits specified in item 21 of the Annex to Federal Law No. 123.

In accordance with table 21 of the Annex to Federal Law No. 123 “Technical Regulation on Fire Safety Requirements”, buildings have no requirement to protect from external fire the outer non-bearing walls, which have integrity loss of fire resistance not exceeding 30 minutes. The constructions of block-containers, considering their possible placement at fire and explosion hazardous facilities, can have supplementary technical solutions to protect equipment and building as a whole from thermal effects of the external fire. The specified protection can be provided at the Customer’s additional request and is implemented using certified wall panels with the given fire endurance for loss of integrity and thermal insulation capacity of up to 150 minutes.

The filling of openings in the building envelope is provided in accordance with Table 23 of the Annex to Federal Law No. 123 “Technical Regulations on Fire Safety Requirements”. The type of the filling of openings in the fire barrier is performed according to the requirements below.

The manufacturing material for the bearing frame is the steel metal profile, which provides the bearing capacity and geometric immutability of the building. The frame is developed in accordance with the requirements for the metal section factor specified in the certificate of conformity for the flame retardant used.

The adopted degree of fire resistance is justified by the design for structural fire protection of the metal frame. Non-load-bearing filler structures are made of certified materials with the required fire resistance limits.

The enclosing structures provide for unified cable entries with a seal, cable passage boxes, standardized blocks for passage of pipelines.

Depending on facility operating conditions and Customer requirements, the block-containers for fire suppression Vityaz can have a wide range of designs.

Key elements and systems

Foam concentrate proportioning system

The Vityaz block-container for fire suppression is equipped with one of the four possible types of proportioning systems:

  • turbine inline proportioners with a stainless steel tank (basic modification);
  • balanced pressure proportioners with metering pumps and stainless steel tanks;
  • foam inductors with a stainless steel capacity;
  • bladder tanks with an internal elastic tank (container).

The type of proportioning system is determined based on the technical features of foam fire extinguishing systems, economic feasibility, the level of responsibility of the protected facility and other factors.

Pump groups

Appearance of a pump station based on monoblock console pumps


Pump stations are of the following types:

a. by the number of pumps in the group: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5;

b. by the method of water intake:

  • water intake from the external fire water supply with overpressure. This type of pump groups is most applicable in industrial facilities. Such groups are located in pump installations or are connected to a backup pipeline with overpressure;
  • water intake from a mark below the level of the working cavity of the pumps. Such pump groups additionally provide devices for filling the intake manifold and compensating for leaks;
  • water intake for pumps of automatic foam fire extinguishing installations from household and drinking water supply. This type of pump groups is additionally equipped with devices for breaking the jet (flow) in accordance with clause 5.9.19 of SP 5.13130;

c. by design characteristics of pump units:

  • cantilever monoblock pumps;
  • single-stage centrifugal vertical pumps;
  • multistage centrifugal vertical pumps;
  • submersible multistage pumps.

All pumps are painted red. For the main pumps, temperature control of the motor windings is provided.

d. by the pumped-over medium and material execution of pumps:

  • pumps to operate with fresh water and a foam concentrate solution. The flow part is made of stainless steel or cast iron, the impeller is made of bronze;
  • pumps to operate with sea water and foam concentrate. The flow part is made of stainless steel. To select a foam concentrate, we recommend to contact the specialists of the Pozhneftehim Group.

Piping with shut-off valves

Piping made of carbon or stainless steel is used.

A full-way ball valve or a wedge gate valve with an electric drive is provided as the main root shut-off valve. Stainless steel ball valves are installed on pipelines with a foam concentrate. Certified butterfly valves are provided as the rest of the shut-off valves download of water or foam concentrate solution supply.

The specific brand of shut-off valves is agreed with the Customer in accordance with the requirements.

Automation and Instrumentation


General solutions

The control over systems of the block-container Vityaz is usually carried out by a controller located in the duty personnel room or directly in the Vityaz BK-PT.

A spare of 10% of each type of instrumentation is provided, but not less than 1 piece.

All instrumentation signals are converged to a cross-cabinet.

The cross-cabinet provides a 20% reserve of terminals and cable entries from the field sensors. Redundant entries are plugged and equipped with a set of o-rings for the corresponding cable diameters.

All cables, terminals are marked accordingly.

Electrical wiring is carried out by a fire-resistant flexible cable with copper stranded conductors of a minimum cross-section of 0.75 mm², not spreading combustion during group installation, with low smoke and gas emission.

Type, brand, output signal, material performance of instrumentation are specified during design and agreed with the Customer in accordance with the requirements.

Below are the instrumentation used in the basic version of the Vityaz BK-PT.


Foam Concentrate Level

Level switches are provided to measure the limit levels of the foam concentrate (emergency upper, lower, emergency lower).

A microwave or radar level gauge with a two-wire connection scheme is used to measure the current level of the foam concentrate in the tank. For continuous measurement and delivery of discrete signals, a signal conditioning device is provided.

Attached documents: certificate of measuring instruments type approval, permission to use and certificate of conformity.

The selection of a specific brand is agreed with the Customer in accordance with the requirements.

Microwave level gauge

Temperature

Bimetallic thermometers with electrical contacts or other devices are used to measure temperature.

Nominal size 100 mm. Stem position: bottom (radial); IP65. The electrical contacts are double, sliding, normally closed: switching up to 230 V, 18 VA/10 W. Measuring range: from -40 °С to +40 °С; switching points: +5 °С; +30 °C. Accession to process 4 (compression fitting sliding over the stem): M18x1.5; rod length 63 mm.

Bimetal thermometer

Pressure

Pressure measurement is carried out by indicating a tubular spring pressure gauge with electrical contacts or a pressure sensor with a unified output signal.

Attached documents: FSETAN permit, certificate, declaration of conformity, certificate of type approval of measuring instruments.

The selection of a specific brand is agreed with the Customer in accordance with the requirements.

Power supply

Reliability category of power supply - I. Supply voltage 220/380 V, 50 Hz.

Power consumption is calculated depending on the type and number of power consumers.

The execution of power consumers is, by default, common industrial. Upon request, it is possible to carry out the electrical part of the project in explosion-proof design. To select the type of explosion protection, the Customer must provide the following initial data:

  • placement area for the BK-PT;
  • group or subgroup of electrical equipment;
  • temperature class of electrical equipment.

A power cabinet is provided as a switchgear.

The scope of supply provides for the protection of mounted cables from mechanical stress by laying them in galvanized trays and boxes. Assembly of trays and boxes is carried out using bolted connections.

Wires and cables are marked at the beginning and end of the trays and boxes, as well as at the points of connection. Cables are also marked on corners and branches.

Stranded cable cores are crimped by end ring loops.

Self-clamping (spring) type terminals are used in the intermediate boxes.

The installation method of boxes does not allow moisture to accumulate therein. The boxes used have opening covers.

All supplied equipment item has a certificate of conformity.

In order to protect personnel and equipment from electric shock, the effects of short circuit currents, secondary manifestations of lightning, static electricity, as well as to equalize potentials, appropriate protective measures are carried out in accordance with the PUE (seventh edition), GOST R 50571.1-2009 and other regulatory documents.

The selection of a specific type and brand of equipment is agreed with the Customer in accordance with the requirements.

Lighting

The Vityaz BK-PT is provided with lighting for working, emergency and repair activity. Above the entrance there is a light panel with an inscription corresponding to the functional purpose of the unit or its position on the general plan.

To illuminate the block-container, lighting fixtures with energy-saving bulbs, emergency lighting lamps are used.

The selection of a specific type and brand of equipment is agreed with the Customer in accordance with the requirements.

Heating

The Vityaz BK-PT is provided with electric or water heating. Heating devices keep room temperature in the winter period not lower than +10 °С.

The selection of a specific type and brand of equipment is agreed with the Customer in accordance with the requirements.

Ventilation

Depending on the climatic features of the area of location, the design of the Vityaz BK-PT provides for forced ventilation with natural or mechanical actuation. The multiplicity of air exchange is taken at least 3.

Ventilation ensures that the summer temperature is kept not higher than +35 °C.

Dimensions and placement of fans, grilles, ducts, deflectors are determined during design.

The selection of a specific type and brand of equipment is agreed with the Customer in accordance with the requirements.

Warning and evacuation system in case of fire

According to Note 7 to Table 2 of SP 3.13130.2009, a fire warning system is allowed not to be provided for single-storey industrial buildings consisting of one room (categories for explosive and fire hazard V4, G and D) with an area of not more than 50 m² without permanent jobs. It is installed at the Customer request.

Fire and security alarm system

In accordance with clause A4 of Appendix A to SP 5.13130.2009 for premises of fire hazard categories B4 and D, it is allowed not to provide for the automatic fire alarm system (AUPS).

It is possible to equip Vityaz BK-PT with AUPS at the Customer request.

The doors closed position is monitored by security magnetic sensors. Upon request, it is possible to equip with additional means of security alarm.

The selection of a specific type and brand of equipment is agreed with the Customer in accordance with the requirements.

Packages for connecting fire fighting equipment

The structure of the Vityaz BK-PT provides for standard fire hydrant manifolds for connecting mobile firefighting units for water supply and extraction of the ready-to-use foam concentrate solution through fire pressure hoses.

Spare parts and accessories (spare parts kit)

The Vityaz BK-PT is delivered equipped with spare parts for the possibility of maintenance and repair of piping, power supply systems, automation (the list is specified when ordering).

Optional equipment

Depending on the range of tasks to be solved, the block-container Vityaz for fire suppression provides for:

  • water tanks and pump group for supplying water to the proportioning system;
  • jet break tank;
  • pump group for increasing pressure of water coming from the B2 fire water supply system;
  • deluge valves, shut-off valves with electric motors, flow and pressure regulators, other equipment;
  • rack with firefighting equipment (portable fire monitors, hand nozzles, fire fittings, etc.).
